Amazon and Hachette Resolve the Dispute
Book publisher Hachette and online retailing giant Amazon made an announcement that they have fixed the conflict over the eBook printing and pricing.
It’s been quite a time since Amazon and Hachette have been in a
conflict over a contract, making Amazon to hold up the shipment of some
noteworthy Hachette titles.
None of the companies declared the T&C of this new multiyear contract.
“This is great news for writers,” told Michael Pietsch, the Hachette chief executive in a declaration.
Hachette authors will be benefitted by the new agreement in the years to come.
“It gives Hachette enormous marketing capability with one of our most important bookselling partners.”
There are reports that Amazon has been asking for a larger share of the profits from the sale of Hachette’s e-books along with trying to minimize the price of those books.
The demand has been dubbed as “unsustainable” by Hachette, which happens to be US’s fourth-largest book publisher.

When Amazon held up the shipment of some significant Hachette titles,
along with Malcolm Gladwell, the dispute developed between the two companies.
A few weeks ago, Amazon made an announcement that it had signed a contract with publishing giant Simon & Schuster over the pricing of e-books.
It is believed that this deal is quite similar to Hachette’s contract.
