A whole new variety of filter adds more fun to Instagram

“A host of me-too apps have been introduced to the market since Instagram was launched. Filters are becoming a competitive advantage for Instagram so I suspect you’ll see it develop more filters as time goes on because that’s the real value of their service,” informed Chris Chute, Research Director at IDC. He also said that the new filters will be welcomed amongst Instagram’s growing bunch of commercial users.

If you are an Instagram user, you may be like the new filters too that Instagram has added, first time in two years.

With these five new filters, the total number of filters becomes 24.

“In December 2012, we added Mayfair and Willow to the Instagram filter family — and a lot has happened in the last two years. Photography trends have evolved, and the capabilities of the camera on your phone have vastly improved.”

“Inspired by the photography, art, fashion and design of the global Instagram community, we’re releasing five new filters that we believe are our best yet,” the company said.

Along with the addition of the new filters, Instagram has changed the display style of the filters as well. Now all the filters are displayed at the bottom of the photo, the effects are shown as a small blurred thumbnail of the original picture and the placement order filters can be adjusted by dragging and dropping the thumbnails as per your choice in the filter tray of application.
